Borders Rally Peebles

Just wanted to add into the club website (I don’t do facebook) a big thanks to Sandy Sutherland and Jeff and Sue Mitchell for the organising of a really great weekend, the first rally for me at least, in a year and a half.

Particular thanks to Sue for her patience and her transit van, after my bike packed in after 50 miles on the run out on Saturday. Getting back to the hotel turned into a traumatic experience:) so I hope it didn’t spoil her weekend too much.

Anybody who was there will know I lost all drive to the back wheel, although all the gears seemed to be selecting the kickstart was clearly doing nothing.

As some speculated, is was indeed the clutch hub nut that had come loose; the hub was spinning on the shaft and the key had disappeared. Fortunately, the main shaft seems to be pretty much undamaged except for a little ding on the side of the keyway. I think I will ‘blue’ the new hub (the old one is damaged) onto the shaft just to make sure it has good contact before I commit myself with it.
