Does anyone know where I could obtain the paint codes from the Meriden/Small Heath era? I’m trying to track down the candy apple red/black scheme as used on the 1979/80 140E export model. I don’t want to use cardinal red on the T160.

Unfortunately nothing was set in stone regarding paint codes at Triumph. Just try getting a code for the Aquamarine Trident. I have used John Chrichlow, Tricolour, telephone 02476312777 or mobile 07773296826..  I have found that John has immense knowledge of Triumph paints from Meriden. Good luck

Thanks Ian, I’ll give him a call. I tried RS Paint, but the nearest they got was Cherokee Red which I think is off an earlier model and was too dark. I offered to send photo’s of bikes in the relevant colour in a variety of light conditions as a reference point, but they need to see an actual panel or tank to mix against.

I’ve got a genuine original paint T140E 1979 m.y. home market tank on the shelf here in Coventry. You can borrow that for a scan of the black and candy apple red colours if that would help.
