can anybody tell me when the next publication date will be for TE?

Have i missed it? Aug/Sept issue i think. Should be the Bezumph Issue?

I noticed that the AGM has no meal or speaker? Thats a real shame, i really enjoyed last years speaker and meal. Anybody have any thoughts on this?

i not a great fan of facebook, so am a bit out of touch. So i am using this forum for real people and hopefully reliable information.

Hi Fin,  Yes it is a shame about the AGM but as you know there was no more than a dozen of us for the evening meal plus the special guests. Alex George gave us a very entertaining talk admittedly to twenty odd people but again a disappointing number considering. So the answer to your question is lack of interest in the format we have had over the last few years.

Sorry Fin looks like your copy has not been delivered.

    Definitely sent so ????

I will ask Dougy who has the spares copies to resend.

The evening meeting on Saturday (with or without speaker and/or disco) before the AGM on Sunday was always the main reason for Francis and me to cross the channel as it was a social meeting with friends and some beers!

the free entrance to the museum doesn’t weight this up 🙁

anyhow we will be there (all going well) 🙂

Well done Ralph, that shows a lot of commitment to the club!

I do fear that even fewer people will come without some “attraction” like a speaker or a dinner.  The risk is that the event will become almost pointless without an audience and any voting-in of committee members by the few attendees even less representative of the overall members’ wishes.  Maybe it is time for a radical overhaul: perhaps change it to the summer and combine it with a club event?

Good evening Ralph, we look forward to seeing you and Francis at the AGM. There is talk of a group of us having a “social” on the saturday evening at a venue close to the NMM but nothing finalised yet ….

Thanks for the prompt replies gentlemen. Maybe we can drum some more interest up for the AGM, I will chase our bunch at our meeting next Thursday. As its a day event, it could be up and back from Sunny Salisbury.

Regarding the last TE, thanks Les for chasing up another copy from Dougi. When did it drop through your letter box? Maybe my dogs had some “chew treats” that day.

Thanks Dave for your comments, may be needs a bit of a “re-fresh” The TR3OC cannot run itself. The commitee has been doing great work, under a lot of pressure and all for free! We need some keen volunteers to fill the vacant positions and bring some new ideas forward.

Have a great weekend , Get those triples out. I did a vintage and veteran run on the T160 in Belgium two weeks ago, a real blast. I will be finishing Sept off at the VMCC Scurry on the IOW.

Has having the AGM at Beezump ever been discussed by the committee?

There is a larger attendance there and entry to the AGM tent could be controlled by entry on production of  membership card.

Having the AGM at Beezumph has been discussed several times, even way back when i was Chairman! Committee members have enough to do at Beezumph without the added AGM workload. Which is why we chose to hold it after the summer/Autumn events when things quietened down. The overnight at a hotel was initially a success, remember the full room when Mick Grant was the speaker! Maybe more advertising, Saturday ride out, Interesting venue and well known speaker (Guy Martin?) would help?

Quite right Dave regarding the AGM and Beezumph, it would not work. The last few years we have followed the hotel overnight stay with guest speaker, remember the success of Neil Spalding and last years speaker Alex George is well renowned for after dinner speaking. Members have come and gone since you were chairman and maybe we have a new audience to please but I reckon the main reason is apathy !

Dave, I daresay there has always been a diverse range of members in the club. Many will be be passive and simply try to enjoy what the club can offer them and some will have opinions about what the club is doing. A few will actually want to be involved in changing things.  But I don’t really see why the membership is any more apathetic than it was 10 or 20 years ago.

The AGM has to be an attraction. There is no build up to the event to pique interest e.g. Advance information for members on the issues facing the club and asking for their input. By advance I mean well in advance like a TE issue or two before, outlining the topics for discussion and the committee roles to be filled.  That in combination with an interesting guest or venue on the back of an event just might improve member involvement and interest? personally I don’t think the AGM as an event in its own right is ever going to be well attended.

Dave Lord, advance notice of topics for discussion is an excellent shout. Maybe if more people knew what was about to affect the club etc more would show an interest. Also if the role of each committee position was described in detail it would not be so daunting for members to put themselves forward to fill these positions.

maybe we should combine AGM with  an autumn swapmeet in the morning?
