    Hi,

Hopefully one of you knowledgeable members can help me out.

I have a 76 T160v that is currently undergoing a head rebuild at SRM, I am looking to replace the the Down pipes and collector box while the head is off, any advice on where to source them would be appreciated. I asked at SRM and made a couple of suggestions that weren’t met with approval.

I am looking to replace the down pipes and collector  with a chrome set rather than stainless steel (told that the headers would go yellow?), I can see from other posts that there has been an issue with alignment with some systems from some suppliers.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

you can have the originals re chromed.

I looked into this and discovered it’s a long process as the pipes have to be dipped for around 10 weeks to remove the carbon inside as this contaminates the chroming process.  Some chroming companies wont touch them.

It is more expensive than a set of stainless steel and the chrome may turn blue.

There is a thread on re chroming here: https://www.tr3oc.com/topic/reputable-rechromers/
