In the process of rebuilding a 1969 R3. Took it apart over 5 years ago and it is finally coming together as a bike again. I’ve got to the stage of putting the forks back together, however because of the time interval of strip down and re-assembly I can’t remember which way the inner plastic sleeve goes, as it appears to have a shoulder inside at the one end. So, does this go up or down in the assembly, or doesn’t it matter?. The parts book or manual doesn’t seem to help. Perhaps someone can point me in the right direction. Many thanks
