hi just replaced valve guides in my newly purchased T160 and oil pressure on cold is 100 psi but after a run (warm) at 5000 rpm is about 35 and about 7 on tickover.also smokes a bit the bores /pistons looked fine no wear lip on bores etc.guess I know the answer (mains and ends) but before I pull it apart anything I might be missing.

Assuming you are using 20-50 oil, then looks like a worn bottom end and either glazed or worn bores or even inferior piston rings. There has been a lot of crap stuff sold for Triples over the years. Go to the usual suspects for parts.

I have always found it’s the pistons & rings as well as the valves and guides. Use vale guide oil seals on mine and i always have the barrels rebored a little on the tight side.

As for the oil pressure it will always be high when cold, but you’d be surprised at how low it will go when really hot.
