The 4th annual TR3OC Scottish Borders Weekend

9th – 21st  June 2019

The North of the Borders Section (NOBS) and the Tyne, Wear and Tees Section (TWATS) invite you to join us in celebrating the longest day of the year in the glorious Scottish Borders countryside. Following on from successful events in previous years, we will once again be based at the Glentress Hotel near Peebles.

Arriving on the afternoon of Friday 19th June, there is time to settle in to our accommodation and enjoy coffee/home baking on the hotel terrace before setting off for an early evening ride through twisting Borders roads for a chippie tea in Biggar. On returning to the hotel, management has offered a complimentary bottle of wine per room or pint of craft beer per person if preferred. The same will be provided free to hotel guests on the Saturday evening. On the Saturday, we’ll be riding via St Mary’s Loch (the largest loch in the Borders) to Moffat, where there are plenty options for a light lunch as well as a petrol station, before returning via the Devil’s Beef Tub. If anyone prefers an alternative outing, the classic racing is on at East Fortune that weekend, with triples in action on the track.

A meal will be arranged in the hotel on Saturday evening with the option of £17.50 for two courses (check if your personal choices would be cheaper before booking the fixed rate). After packing the bikes on Sunday morning those who wish to will set off for a 32 mile ride south to Denholm Green, to see the classic and vintage bikes and cars setting off on the annual Jimmie Guthrie Memorial run, before heading home.

The hotel has seven en-suite rooms, each with three single beds, priced at £90/night for two sharing and £100 for three. A hot buffet breakfast is an additional £7.50pp. Please book direct with the hotel quoting TR3OC to ensure you get the wine/beer deal and confirm attendance to me so I can ensure dining settings are appropriate. For those who prefer, glamping and camping are available within easy walking distance at Glentress Forest Lodges. Glamping huts are £54 per night for two people sharing and £68 for three. Camping is £12 for one person and £20 for two sharing. Motorhomes and caravans can also be accommodated and breakfasts can be had at Glentress Hotel. Please also confirm if you are choosing this option or just coming along for the day so we know to expect you on the runs and have numbers for the meal on the Saturday evening. The hotel owner has offered to arrange for local self-catering or B&B accommodation if the hotel becomes full.

We look forward to seeing you at this year’s event.
